"A Spirited Evening" with the March of Dimes

November 17, 2005

Albany- Medical science has made great progress treating many conditions, but a problem that costs the lives of babies is getting worse. You can help lower the growing number of premature births by supporting the March of Dimes.

The Albany chapter will host "A Spirited Evening," their fourth annual fundraiser at the Riverquarium Friday night. Money raised will help prevent premature births, the number one cause of deaths in the first month of life.

"We are in the middle of a major campaign to find the answers for premature birth, because the rate of premature birth has risen since 1981 and it's gone up every year since then," said Mari McEwen, March of Dimes.

The fundraiser will offer wine tasting and a silent auction from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday night at the Riverquarium. You can get tickets at the door.
