Hahira -- Eugene Marcus Reynolds wrecked his car after he stole a handful of cash from an open cash register.

Hahira police say the 29-year-old Reynolds snatched a handful of cash from an open cash register at the Discount Corner Foods Wednesday evening.

He tried to flee in his car, but wrecked it a short distance away. Investigators say Reynolds stole a truck from a nearby school and drove to Valdosta where he wrecked the truck.

He was arrested later at a motel in Valdosta and returned to Hahira.

Reynolds is charged with robbery by sudden snatching, motor vehicle theft, leaving the scene of an accident and driving too fast for conditions.
