Tift County- Twenty-one year old Robert James Mayo is charged with about a dozen traffic violations.

An ABAC Public Safety officer spotted Mayo driving erratically along Moore Highway and Zion Hope Roads. The officer pulled Mayo over, but he jumped back in his car and headed toward Turner County on Highway 41 reaching speeds of nearly 90 miles per hour.

Turner County deputies and Ashburn police chased Mayo into Worth County just outside of Sylvester, when he jumped out the car and began running on foot. Mayo only got about 150 yards before he was caught.

Officers say they aren't sure why Mayo lead them on the chase. He is now in the Tift County jail.
