Thomasville, Georgia-- Students in Thomasville are crossing borders with the help of video conferencing.
Monday morning, 40 pre-k children at Balfour School linked up live with students in Wisconsin. It's the beginning of a year long program called Interactive Distance Learning.
Principal Jocelyn Thompson says video conferencing keeps students' attention where lectures may not. "What we have decided to do is let the children here read and share stories with the children in Wisconsin, as well as explain how we spend our holidays here, our customs here," she says.
The system also allows students to take field trips without leaving the classroom. Thompson says demonstrations and programs are endless as long as the other person has a setup too.
