Albany -- A 25 year old Albany man is sentenced to life in prison for raping his 10 year old niece. James Clemmons pleaded guilty to rape and three counts of aggravated child molestation.
Prosecutors say Clemmons repeatedly raped his niece while his family sat by in the next room.
Clemmons asked the judge for mercy after his plea, because he had been molested as a child. Assistant District Attorney Christopher Cohilas said "Crimes against children, especially sexual crimes against children are systemic, and spawn other offenders. We have just had to do the best we could to weed this problem out."
Clemmons mother and sister were also arrested following the rape.
Clemmons two brothers and sister are already in prison on sex charges. His mother died awaiting trial.
