Albany - Former Albany commissioner Henry Mathis reported to prison Thursday. Mathis will serve his three year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institute in Jesup.
In September, Mathis was found guilty of extorting money from business owners and lying to investigators. He was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay back more than $3,300 he extorted.
He is appealing, but he must start serving his time as the 11th District Court of Appeals considers his case.
