Albany-- The woman who was picked temporarily to fill Henry Mathis' commission seat will now fill it permanently.
Dorothy Hubbard won all precints in the Ward 2 race. She beat Freddy Grimsley with 63.5 percent of the vote. It was all smiles Tuesday night as Hubbard heard the news. She says she originally didn't plan to run for the seat, but constituents urged her to run. She hopes to make a lot of changes with the help of fellow commissioners.
"I'm going to work to have a blueprint for the city so that our children and grandchildren can prosper. We'll work to bring in more jobs so that all of us can have a meaningful life," says Hubbard.
Hubbard also wants to improve communication between city and county government. She says it will also take the help of people in the community to make Albany better.
