Valdosta -- A South Georgia man was killed this morning when his truck collided with an 18 wheeler.

Fifty-six-year-old Ronald Darby was turning onto East Hill Avenue from Hollywood Drive in Valdosta when he pulled out in front of the tractor trailer rig. The driver's side of his Chevrolet pick up truck was crushed.

"There's a possibility that the driver of the pickup didn't see the tractor trailer traveling east on East Hill Avenue, so when the truck tried to negotiate that left turn, the tractor trailer hit him in the driver's side door," said Valdosta PoliceCapt. Brian Childress.

Part of the east bound lanes of E. Hill Avenue were closed for about an hour while crews cleaned up the wreckage.

The driver of the big rig was not injured.
