Thomasville, Georgia-- Drug agents in Thomasville may benefit from an operation this weekend.

They seized more than $6,000 during a road check on Pinetree Boulevard on Sunday. Agents were led to it by a car that tried avoiding the checkpoint. They say that after the car finally pulled over, they noticed the money on the ground while searching the passenger.

"That's quite a substantial amount of money. It's not a huge amount, but it will be seized and used to buy equipment here if it's turned over to us, which it should be," says Thomasville / Thomas County Drug Squad Commander, Kevin Lee.

Agents say nobody in the car claimed the money, but it did have the same rubber band around it as cash in the passenger's pocket. They arrested the man for possession of marijuana. Agents add that they're also investigating him for criminal attempt to possess cocaine.
