Mabbett earns POW honors

November 3, 2005

Albany - High school football coaches count on seniors to come through in the big games at the end of October and in November.

Deerfield-Windsor's Jack Mabbett receiving this week's Orthopaedic Associates player of the week award from Dr. Tim Darden.

In last week's battle with Southland for the region title, Mabbett scored both of the Knights touchdowns.

He caught Deerfield-Windsor's first touchdown pass and scored the winning touchdown on a three yard run.

Mabbett set up that winning touchdown with a long pass reception.

The senior also led the Knight defense with nine tackles and he also kicked an extra point.

Jack Mabbett said "I wish I could take the credit for those. Paul Reese made a great throw on the first touchdown and it was big ol' hole that the offensive line made on the d-line down by the goal line."

Deerfield-Windsor will host Mount de Sales in the first round of the GISA playoffs Friday night at 7:30pm.
