SGMP moves race to spring of 2006

November 3, 2005

Cecil -Officials at South Georgia Motorsports Park and the United Sprint Car Series announced that the USCS Outlaw Sprint Car event, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 11-12, has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 13, 2006 as a one-day event on the facility’s half-mile paved oval track.

“A number of factors led to this decision, but chief among them were scheduling conflicts with our event title sponsor,” said SGMP promoter Craig Armstrong. “The new date will give everyone time to regroup and prepare for a really stellar sprint car show in May. In the meantime, we’ve added a championship race for our ‘All Star Stock Car Racing Series, presented by Harvey’s & Coca-Cola’ on Saturday, November 12 th , which will give local race fans one final show before we conclude our 2005 circle track racing season.”

Armstrong said that Harvey’s Supermarkets and Coca-Cola are planning to highlight the ‘All-Star’ championship race with a significant promotional push, as well as a discounted admission offer for area race fans.

“Harvey’s and Coca-Cola have been stalwart supporters of our new local stock car series from the beginning,” Armstrong noted. “It’s only right that they are involved in the final race of our first year on the oval track. And the best thing for race fans is that they can save three dollars off any paid admission by presenting a Harvey’s sales receipt, showing at least one Coca-Cola purchase, when they buy their tickets at the track.”

According to Armstrong, the SGMP ticket booth and grandstands will open at 5:05 PM on November 12, with ‘All-Star’ stock car racing beginning at 7:07 PM, featuring Qualifying Heat Races and season championship Main Events for Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, Super Stocks and “Outlaw” Late Model Sportsman
