Valdosta - South Georgians have a new, affordable option for telephone service.

Mediacom is now offering residential phone service in Valdosta, Albany, and surrounding communities. Customers who subscribe to both Family Cable and Mediacom high speed Internet can get unlimited long distance calling to anywhere in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Canada for just $29.95.

Those with either Family Cable or Mediacom Online will pay $39.95, and if you don't have any Mediacom services, the price is $49.95.

"This is a voice over Internet protocol, it works right through our cable system so we're able to offer an Internet based telephone service at a very low cost," said Don Zagorski, Mediacom Regional Vice President.

If you want to subscribe to the service, Mediacom can have you connected in about 10 days. No contract term or extra equipment is required.
