Sunbelt opens for 28th year

October 18, 2005

Moultrie, GA -- For the twenty-eighth year, the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo is up and running at Spence Field in Moultrie.

Over 200,000 visitors are expected this year, as twelve-hundred exhibitors display their products and services for farmers and non-Ag observers as well.

The largest Ag show in North America, Sunbelt Expo draws many important figures from government, such as U. S. Ag Secretary Mike Johanns, who will hold a farmer's listening session this afternoon from 2:00 until 5:00. Also on hand will be Georgia's Senior Senator, Saxby Chambliss, a Moultrie native.

South Carolina is the featured state at this year's Expo. At 11:00 this morning, a squadron of planes from Moody's 497th Training Wing saluted Expo patrons with a flyover.

The Expo runs through Thursday, with gates opening at 8:30AM, and admission is $5.00.

WALB News 10 will have comments from Secretary Mike Johanns, and Senator Chambliss, as well as this year's Farmer of the Year in later newscasts.
