Valdosta - A South Georgia city is picked to host the 2006 Georgia Downtown Conference.

The conference will be held in historic downtown Valdosta next October, bringing about 250 people in for three days. Main Street directors and Downtown Development Authorities from all over the state will meet to share revitalization ideas.

"We'll be able to spotlight what we're doing, the new businesses we've got, and historic preservation, then they'll be able to take it home to their communities and walk away with some hands on experience," said Niki Knox, Valdosta Mainstreet Director.

Valdosta competed against Moultrie and Statesboro to host next year's downtown conference. This year's was held in Madison, Georgia.
