Albany-- Albany State University kicks off Homecoming Week with the crowning of it's new queen. It was all smiles at the Albany Municipal Auditorium as school queens prepared to crown Miss Albany State 2005.

The theme for the coronation was "A Symphony of Beauty". Miss Albany State 2004 Erika Estrada made her last stroll on stage before handing the spotlight over to the new crowned queen, Kendria Bailey. Her platform will be "Dream Big, Fly Far, Give Back and Achieve More".

Judges say the position comes with many duties. "Miss Albany State is definitely expected to be the student ambassador of the university. She represents the university at various community and campus functions," says Honors Program Director Dr. Ontario Wooden.

Kendria was also recently named Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame. She's a senior music performance major at ASU.
