Ben Hill County- Forty-five year old Jefferey Boone and 41 year old Julius Hendricks, both of Fitzgerald, face a number of charges, including nine counts of felony obstruction, nine counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, and one count of cocaine possession.

Ben Hill County Sheriff Bobby McLemore says nine officers went to a mobile home on South Logan Street around 11 o'clock last night to search for drugs when the men threw foil-wrapped crack cocaine into a bucket of sodium hydroxide, then added a pitcher of water.  The mixture created a toxic hydrogen gas.

All nine officers were treated after inhaling the irritant. Both Boone and Hendricks are being held in the Ben Hill County jail.
