Thomasville - Thomas County Central has had produced some great running backs under the Ed Pilcher era and Debrale Smiley is continuing the tradition of great Yellow Jacket running backs.
Dr. Paul Michas presented Smiley with this week's Orthopaedic Associated player of the week award Thursday afternoon.
The sophomore running back rushed for 178 yards and three touchdown in Thomas County Central's win at Bainbridge last week.
The same Bearcat team that beat the Yellow Jackets last year in Thomasville.
Debrale Smiley said "We just work hard every day in practice. The coach says if you work hard all week then on Friday you will perform well."
The unbeaten Yellow Jackets are off this week. Thomas County Central will host Lee County next Friday night.
