Valdosta - Valdosta State head coach Chris Hatcher already knows he will be in Florence,Alabama during the weekend that the Division II national championship game is played.
Hatcher hopes his Blazer football team will be there also.
That is because the night before the big game, Chris Hatcher will be inducted into the Division II Football Hall of Fame.
Hatcher, who led the Blazers to the D-II national championship last year, is going into the hall for his accomplishments as a player for Valdosta State now more than a decade ago.
A two-time consensus All-American, Chris Hatcher still holds eight NCAA records and 12 records in the Gulf South Conference and 12 at Valdosta State.
Hatcher is honored at his selection and hopes that one day some of his current players will make join him in the D-II Hall of Fame.
Chris Hatcher said "Right now I am in position where I am trying to groom a few future hall of famers and I am more concerned with that. But hopefully when the time comes on the induction night, I know it will be a very special evening for myself and my family."
Chris Hatcher becomes the second Valdosta State Blazer elected to the seven year old Division II Football Hall of Fame.
Former Atlanta Falcon great Jessie Tuggle was inducted three years ago.
The other members of this year's class are former Pittsburgh Steeler and South Carolina State standout Donnie Shell and Pittsburg State running back Ronald Moore.
