Lady Eagles ready for state finals

Dawson - The Terrell Academy Lady Eagles are ready to defend their GISA Class-A state softball title they won last year.

The Lady Eagles will be trying to win a second state title even though they graduated seven seniors from last year's championship squad. T

his year's squad is expecting quite a battle in the final four this weekend in Dublin.

Their first round opponent David Emanuel was a final four participant last season as was Crisp Academy who Terrell Academy beat in a one game playoff last week for the region title.

Junior Courtney Spilman said "I want it probably more this year than I did last year just to show even though we did lose alot that we can still come out and work hard with the players we got and prove to everybody we can still do this."

Pitcher Cristina Sapp said "It is hard to come back and beat a team for a third time. We are going to have to work together."

The GISA softball championships are at Southern Pines Complex in Dublin on Saturday.

The Tiftarea Lady Panthers will play Pinewood Christian at 10:00am Saturday in the first round of the GISA AA finals.
