Domestic violence forum at ASU raises awareness

Albany- One in three women is domestically abused. A home for battered women in Albany is trying to reduce that number. Wednesday, as part of domestic violence awareness month, Liberty House and Albany State University held a forum to raise awareness.

Dougherty County helped 2,700 domestic violence victims last year. Wednesday, one survivor told of burying her mother three years ago Wednesday after she was hit by a car during a domestic struggle.

"If they know someone, if they can help, in order to help someone, don't turn their backs. Don't close their shades, don't close their doors keep, yourself open for people," said Shanta Teemer, domestic violence survivor.
