Dougherty County helped 2,700 domestic violence victims last year. Wednesday, one survivor told of burying her mother three years ago Wednesday after she was hit by a car during a domestic struggle.

"If they know someone, if they can help, in order to help someone, don't turn their backs. Don't close their shades, don't close their doors keep, yourself open for people," said Shanta Teemer, domestic violence survivor.

Victims encourage witnesses to call police. You don't have to leave your name.
