Valdosta - A South Georgia high school band will be featured in a national parade next year.

The Lowndes High School Bridgemen will march in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California in January. More than 200 bands from across the country applied, but only 17 were selected.

Tournament of Roses President Libby Evans-Wright says the band's outstanding musical and marching skills set them apart. "They look so great on the field, they look so great marching and we are really interested in marching bands so we invited them too," said Evans-Wright.

The Bridgemen also marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City two years ago.
