Wreck injures woman, other driver in jail

October 4, 2005

Albany -- An Albany woman is in serious condition, after her car is struck by an SUV.

After the crash Police found cocaine in the SUV, and arrested the driver. Twenty-year-old Erica Acree's Mazda is crumpled. The Albany Tech student has fractured ribs.

About six last night at North Carroll Street and East Second Avenue, Costonza Williams ran a stop sign in a Ford Explorer and hit Acree's car.

Investigators think Williams was driving at a high rate of speed, because he had seen a marked Drug Unit car in the area.

Williams ran from his SUV after the crash, but Police caught him. He is in the Dougherty County jail charged with cocaine possession.

Acree is in Phoebe Putney Hospital.
