Albany - Cooper Tire Company cut its productions schedule this week at plants in Arkansas and Mississippi. A corporate spokesman says production will not change at the Albany plant.
Hurricane Rita severely damaged several of Cooper's suppliers for carbon black and synthetic rubber along the Gulf Coast. Transportation disruptions also are contributing to the shortage.
The Company estimates that about 30,000 tires per day will be taken out of production until the raw material supply is back to normal.
