Gas thefts increase

October 03, 2005

Thomasville, Georgia-- Rising prices are causing a jump in gas thefts in Thomas County.

There have been three drive-off gas thefts since Sunday. Investigators say normally there is only about one gas theft each week in Thomas County. Recently, three a day has become common.

Investigators are also looking into gasoline thefts at a farm. They say that on Saturday, someone cut the nozzle on a farmer's tank and stole a large quantity of gas from him. At this point, investigators can only attribute the theft to desperate measures.
