Thomasville, Georgia-- A Thomasville woman is recovering from minor injuries sustained when she was raped Wednesday night.

It happened in the area of Remington Avenue and Bennett Street. Police say the woman asked a man if she could use his telephone. Investigators say he agreed, but then dragged the woman to a hidden area behind Thomasville High School and raped her.

Police say the man was arrested this afternoon. "Just looking at the physical evidence that we obtained, we were able to pinpoint a suspect, Darrick McMillian, 35-year-old Thomasville resident who lives in the area of the crime scene," says Sgt. Rachelle Denmark.

Police say McMillian and the woman were acquaintances, but they don't know to what extent yet. McMillian has been charged with rape. If convicted, he could be given the death penalty.
