Valdosta - A local business has a government contract to provide meals for hurricane victims.
I.J. Foods will send 20,000 boxes of food to people along the Gulf Coast. They've set up a packaging facility at the Lowndes Advocacy Resource Center, and are asking volunteers to help box up the goods.
Since Friday, they've shipped 2,000 boxes a day. "We've had a huge array of people here to help up and without them, we couldn't have done it," said Harry Hamm, LARC Director. "We've been operating at least 16 hours a day since we started."
The group will be packaging food from 8:00 in the morning until 10 at night through Friday. If you're interested in helping, call the Lowndes Advocacy and Resource Center.
