Former Southwest Georgia Academy standout and current Georgia State women's basketball coach Lea Henry has been selected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
Henry is part of a star studded 2006 induction class that also includes Braves manager Bobby Cox, former Georgia and NFL standout Ray Donaldson, and the late Sugar Ray Robinson, pound-for-pound one of the greatest fighters in boxing history.
Lea Henry is going into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame as one of the best women's basketball players in the state.
The Kodak High School all-American was a four-year starter at the University of Tennessee and the starting point guard on the U-S-A's gold medal winning basketball team at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
The other members of the 2006 induction class include former Georgia Tech football standout Taz Anderson, longtime college football official Bobby Gaston, Para-Olympic athlete Al Mead, the late Doctor Jack Hughston of Columbus, Marian Morgan, and Bettye McLendon.
The 2006 Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies will be held in May of next year.
