Thomasville, Georgia-- An arrest in Thomas County proves that, despite high gas prices, the only route to filling-up is the honest route.

Johnny Hiers has been arrested for stealing more than $250 in gas. Investigators say a clerk recognized him while attempting his fourth drive-off since prices skyrocketed a month ago. They add that Hiers was already wanted in our region. "He has several outstanding warrants from Brooks County; some misdemeanor, and several felony warrants for theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, and I think entering an auto to mention a few of them," says investigator Pascal Autrey.

Authorities say that Hiers stole the van he was driving from Florida. He's charged with theft by bringing stolen property across state lines and theft by taking.
