September 17, 2005

Ellenton- The Ellenton Community Fire Department is trained to help the community, but recently they've turned their efforts to fundraising. Saturday, the community raised their voices to raise money for Katrina victims who have been relocated to Norman Park.

Several groups and local residents performed at the fire departments Outdoor Gospel sing. Along with eight other department Ellenton fire fighters have collected nearly eight thousand dollars.

"It's one helping another and if we don't help our neighbor then we're not doing our job," said Chief Darrell Passmore, Ellenton Fire Department.

Saturday's open house and concert were originally planned to raise money for the fire department.
