Albany -- Dougherty County Police hope to crack down on dangerous drivers.

The county is applying for grant to hire a HEAT officer, which stands for Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic.

The three year grant would pay for a HEAT car, like the one used by Albany Police, and and an officer.

The officer would target speeders, reckless and drunk drivers, and seatbelt violators.
