Fitzgerald- On September 8, 2005, the South Central Drug Task Force conducted an operation in the City of Fitzgerald.
The South Central Drug Task Force conducted a search at 309 N. Thomas Street and recovered approximately 120 bags of suspected powder cocaine, two firearms, a video surveillance system and other drug paraphernalia.
The estimated street value of the recovered drugs was over $3000.00.
Twenty-nine-year-old Willie Jacob Yopp, 33-year-old Lorenzo Devon McLaurin, and 27-year-old Cornetha Lafaun Hodge all of 309 N. Thomas Street have been charged in connection with this case.
All three suspects face felony charges of Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Controlled Substances within 1000 feet of School Property, Possession of Firearms by Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearms within 1000 feet of School Property, Possession of Firearms with Altered Identification Marks, and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime.
Assisting during this operation was the Fitzgerald Police Department and the Fitzgerald Probation Office. Sgt. Bob Billotte SCDTF
