Tifton- The Georgia Department of Transportation sent eight employees to assist FEMA with damage assessments in Mississippi.

Two construction project managers from South Georgia were among the group. Officials say just like structural damage, the damage to roadways could be extensive.

"Usually damage similar to that there are roads washed out, roads possibly washed away, bridge structures damaged things like that. You just really don't know right now until they can get over there and get to those sites and see," says Brent Thomas.

The DOT workers will be in Mississippi for two weeks.
