Thomasville-- Many evacuees of Hurricane Katrina are parents whose children will have to attend schools in Georgia.

Officials say that so far, five children who are evacuees have enrolled in Thomasville City Schools. Another eight are now attending classes in Thomas County's system. Three children have signed up in Grady County.

Because many evacuees have lost their records, school officials in both counties are making concessions. They've temporarily waived the need for Social Security Cards, birth certificates, and vaccination records.
