Dry clothes needed for disaster victims

September 6, 2005

Albany-- A south Georgia church organization is collecting clothing for Hurricane Katrina victims.

I Can is an extension of Words Of Restoration International in Albany. Members are looking for a trucking company to ship items they're collecting but they'll rent trucks and drive the clothes themselves if they have to. They say they can relate to the Gulf Coast disaster because their church flooded in 1994.

"We feel compelled of God to reach out and extend to our brothers and sisters a hand of fresh, dry clothing," says Dr. Oscar Benton.

They hope to send the donations in two weeks. You can donate clothes at the I Can Center located at 600 South Madison or call 435-3355 to offer assistance.
