Biloxi, MS - We arrived in Biloxi Tuesday night, August 30th.

The previous day, the town of about 60,000 people took a ten hour pounding from Hurricane Katrina.

The same night we arrived, hundreds of law enforcement officers from around the country did, too. They had a daunting task; they had to search the tons of rubble for survivors and casualties.

Initially, they found a few survivors. But by Thursday, when we went along with a rescue team, there was little hope of finding victims alive in the debris. Search and rescue soon evolved into search and recovery.

So far, more than 180 deaths have been confirmed in Mississippi.
