Radiothon focuses on disaster relief, future of station

September 2, 2005

Moultrie- WHBS is a 24-hour radio station. It has a gospel music format, but also focuses heavily on news.

General Manager Ron Sailor says the radiothon will focus on raising money to stay on the air and Hurricane Katrina disaster relief. His station previously raised more than $10,000 for the victims of the tsunami.

"One of the things we're doing is keeping attention on where the real disaster is, and the real disaster is in the Gulf area right now. At the same time, we're trying to put out how important it is for this radio station and any other radio station that's an information link to the community to stay on," says Sailor.

WHBS can be found on your radio at 1400 AM in Moultrie. All donations made to hurricane victims will be given to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund.
