Albany Hotels and Restaurants help Katrina victims
August 31, 2005
Albany- Albany businesses are pitching in to help evacuees stuck in south Georgia. Premier hotels, which owns the Holiday Inn, Wingate Inn, and Suburban Lodge in Albany, set aside free hotel rooms for several affected families.
Burger King, The Rocket, Johnny Carino's, and Moes are providing food. Owners say it's the least they can do to help families who may have lost everything.
"We have several of the rooms that we have donated to the hurricane victims. Our owner of the Premier Hotel Corporation donated rooms himself," said Rebecca Cummins, Surburban Lodge manager.
"We provided vouchers for many of them to come in for lunch for them to come in whenever they want and we're also bringing them a meal so everyone in their entire family can just have a meal together," said Tim Underwood, The Rocket Chef and co-owner.
If you'd like to help, the Suburban Lodge will collect donations from businesses or individuals.
