Douglas--A south Georgia school bus driver was killed in a crash this afternoon.  No children were on the Coffee County school bus just before three o'clock when bus driver, Dewey Carter failed to yield at a stop sign on Highway 32 west of Douglas.

He crashed into a semi and was ejected from the bus. Carter died at the scene. Friends are having a hard time dealing with his death.

"I'm in shock. I can't believe it. He's been my kid's bus driver for years. He was like family. I could call him up and have him meet me somewhere to pick up the kids if I was running late. He was great," says Christy Spivey.

Carter was on his way to Ambrose Elementary School to pick up students when the crash happened.
