Undated- Former Valdosta State pitcher Jason Bulger has made it to the major leagues.
Bulger, who was the Arizona Diamondbacks top draft pick four years ago, was called up from the D'Backs AAA farm team in Tuscon Thursday night.
The hard throwing right hander had four saves and an earned run average of 3.56 in 56 innings of work in Tuscon where he was selected to AAA All-Star game in July.
Jason Bulger, who has two younger brothers who were also playing in the minors, is just the third Valdosta State baseball player to make it to the major leagues.
In the Atlanta Braves organization, Donalsonville's Josh Ward was been promoted to Atlanta's Class-A affiliate in Rome.
Ward was 2-0 with an earned run average of 2.25 for the Gulf Coast League Braves this summer.
A spokesman for the Rome team says the Braves like to promote players from the rookie leagues into class-A at the end of the year as a reward for a good season and to encourage them to continue their climb up the ladder to the majors.
