Dima leaving Thomas University

August 25, 2005

Thomasville - For the second time in a year, Thomas University is looking for a head softball coach.

On Thursday,  Lady Night Hawks head coach Vinny Dima was named head coach at the University of Mobile.

Dima led Thomas University to a 45-8 record and a third place finish in the NAIA national tournament in his one and only season as a head coach.

He takes over a Mobile program that finished fourth in the NAIA last year and has been one of Thomas' top rivals in their region.

Vinny Dima succeeded Thomas Macera who led Thomas to the NAIA national title in 2004 and led Lynn University to the NCAA Dvision II national title this spring.

Macera is now the head coach at Valdosta State University.
