Sylvester- Twenty-five year old Courtney Jackson is charged with murder for the shooting death of Stacy Thomas in 1997.
Jackson is currently being held in the Dougherty County jail on unrelated murder and burglary charges.
"We all went everywhere following leads that we had on this case, and it's just a good day that we can solve something like this and give the family some closure on it," says Chief Tony Strenth.
Chief Strenth says more arrests may be made in connection with the case.
While many Southwest Georgia schools are preparing to close for summer, leaders with Pelham City Schools said they're making plans now for the new school year.
