Valdosta - Four men are in jail after leading police on a high speed chase, and a fifth suspect is still on the run.

A Valdosta Police officer tried to pull the men over on Forrest Street Wednesday night but the driver took off. After reaching speeds of about 70 miles per hour through the middle of town, the driver crashed the Crown Victoria into a ditch at the corner of Forrest Street and Woodlawn Drive.

Four of the people inside were arrested, 19-year-old Charles Williams Junior, 20-yera-old Demetrius Crumite, 26-year-old Antwan Bethay, 22-year-old Travis Miller. A fifth suspect got away.

Police found three handguns in the car and say the men could be behind several armed robberies in Valdosta. "We believe these individuals are possibly related to a gang, we've got our gang unit looking at it," said Captain Brian Childress.

The men are in the Lowndes County Jail charged with alluding and obstruction of an officer, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
