USDA recalls Georgia beef patties

Waycross - Concerns about E. coli bacteria contamination have prompted a company in Waycross to recall about 900,000 pounds of frozen beef patties.

Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture say the food from Flanders Provision Company Incorporated was sold in two, three, and five pound packages.  It was sold under the brand names Flanders Bun Buster, Flanders Beef Patties, America's Pride Beef Patties, Grill Master Beef Patties and Value Time Beef Patties.

All the products have the establishment number "E-S-T.9-1-4-5" inside the USDA seal of inspection. The meat also was sold in ten pound packages under the brand names of Flanders Beef Patties, Flanders Homestyle Cubed Beef Patties and Flanders Patty Mix.

The meat was processed between February 21st, 2005, and March 10th, 2005, and distributed to retail stores nationwide.

Three and five pound packages of “FLANDERS BUN BUSTER, 100% Beef Burgers.” Each package contains the production code, “05053.” Ten pound packages of “FLANDERS BEEF PATTIES.” Each package contains the production code “05053.”

Ten pound packages of “FLANDERS HOMESTYLE CUBED BEEF PATTIES.” Each package contains the production code, “05055.”

Five pound packages of “FLANDERS BEEF PATTIES.” Each package contains the production code, “05052,” “05053,” “05055,” “05060,” “05061,” “05062,” “05066” or “05069.”

Two pound packages of “ AMERICA ’S PRIDE BEEF PATTIES, Quarter Pound Beef Patties.” Each package contains the production code, “05055.”

Two pound packages of “FLANDERS BEEF PATTIES.” Each package contains the production code, “05055.”

Ten pound packages of “FLANDERS PATTY MIX.” Each package contains the production code, “05060.”

Five pound packages of “VALUE TIME BEEF PATTIES.” Each package contains the production code, “05060.”

Five pound packages of “GRILL MASTER BEEF PATTIES.” Each package contains the production code, “05060” or “05062.”

    Preliminary investigations revealed the female victim fell from a billboard while conducting routine maintenance, and suffered fatal injury, according to Lowndes County Coroner Austin J. Fiveash.

    Health officials are urging you to be careful around wildlife and stray animals, after a South Georgia family was attacked by a fox with rabies. This happened last Thursday on Cotton Avenue in Lake Park. A man and his dog were attacked by the fox when they went outside their house. Lowndes County animal service employees said the fox's test came back positive for Rabies. "Once someone really becomes infected with the rabies virus and it develops into the disease.
