Nashville - A South Georgia town is getting big bucks to help revitalize its downtown.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture gave Nashville city leaders a check for $55,000 Monday. The money will help transform vacant land into a parking lot to accommodate downtown merchants.

In the last year, six new businesses have moved downtown and more parking is needed as the area continues to grow.

"Parking is always an issue for downtowns and we want to think ahead as to what our obstacles are going to be in the future," said Dawn Morrison, Better Hometown Director.

The money is part of a Rural Business Enterprise Grant.
