Albany - A week after opening, the new downtown Albany hotel is booking more guests than expected. Most new Hilton hotels, in towns about this size, have 10 to 15 rooms a night booked for the first few weeks. But the new downtown hotel booked about 75 rooms a few nights last week.

The hotel also hosted its first big group Wednesday. General Manager Todd Cleveland says the real test will come Labor Day weekend when they host three large receptions.

"The sales leads have been fantastic since we open," said Cleveland. "Exposure in the town has been great. Our sales department has had trouble keeping up with all the leads for weddings, meetings, guest rooms. But, it's been a great thing for us."

The hotel's restaurant is now serving three meals and day.
