Lumpkin-- Three emergency workers who were shot by a suicidal gunman remain hospitalized.

Lumpkin Police Chief Jay Stripling was shot in the eye, Deputy Clinton Rivers was shot in the face and Stewart County paramedic Vance Streeter was shot in the led Thursday morning.

They were ambushed by 26-year old Marcus Dalton, who had stated he wanted police to kill him.

Paramedic Streeter is the most seriously wounded. The GBI says the bullet severed his femoral artery and he almost bled to death on the scene. He's in unsatisfactory condition at the hospital.

Marcus Dalton was shot and killed by police.
