Dougherty County -- An East Albany man is charged with damaging a cell phone tower last week.

Twenty-five-year old David Peek, Jr., who goes by "J. R." is charged with criminal damage to property. Investigators say he vandalized a cell phone tower under construction at Doles and Cordele Roads.

Lights, amplifiers and cables had been unbolted from the top of the 250 foot tower. Even booms the construction workers stand on had been loosened.

There was about $10,000 worth of damage.

Peek lives in Worthy Manor trailer park, not far from the tower.
