Albany - Sherwood Christian Academy is getting ready for their fourth season under head coach Jimmy Fields.
A season the Eagles hope will be the best in school history.
The nine wins for Sherwood Christian are the most over a two-year period in the history of the decade old program.
Head coach Jimmy Fields though is not one to live on past accomplishments.
Fields said "You'll hear football coaches say well what is the most important game, what is the most important season. Well this one because it is the next one. It is the one that counts."
The Eagles hope to be counting alot of points with an offense that returns junior quarterback Jason Townsend who has been the SCA starter since he was a freshman.
Fields said "We are going to look to Jason lead us alot. After starting three years, going into his third year, he should be able to recognize some things and get us into some good plays and hopefully get us out of some bad plays."
Jason Townsend will have plenty of help in the backfield with tailback Caine Bickerstaff and newcomer Mark Puckett at fullback.
The offense will have to play well early since the defense was hit hard by graduation.
Coach Fields says the replacements have shown alot of promise in summer camp.
Fields "Tommy McBride is really stepping up at inside linebacker. Justin Griffin at outside linebacker, Justin Moore along the defensive line. Some kids that are really stepping up their senior year."
And the Eagles are hoping this season to take another step towards becoming a championship contender in the GISA.
Sherwood Christian opens the season at home Friday night against Terrell Academy.
