Knights hoping to be the one

August 16, 2005

Albany - The goal for the Deerfield-Windsor Knights has not changed this season.

The Knights have one goal this year, to finish the season number one.

Deerfield-Windsor head coach Allen Lowe said "We have got one goal and we want to play in that one game on November 25th."

That one game on November 25th is the state championship game and it is a game the Knights can reach with the depth and experience on both lines of scrimmage.

In the backfield, the Knights will have a new starting quarterback in Paul Reese and will alternate running backs Josh Carswell, Blake Jones and James Salter.

Lowe said "We think we have got some guys that can step in. It may not be all one person. It may be by committee a little bit."

The defense will be strong anchored by middle linebacker Thomas Carroll-.whose personality fits his position.

Lowe said "Thomas is just a competitor. He loves to compete. He loves to win. He is going to be a main factor on defense. We all hope they rally around him and make a great squad."

The Knights goal is to win a state championship and their non-region schedule will have them ready for that games that really count.

Lowe said "The main ball games are in October and November and we just have to make sure that we improve. We think that we have got the line depth hopefully that can carry us through some rough times."

Deerfield-Windsor opens the season in Macon Friday night against First Presbyterian.
