Cairo-- A technicality may mean a small tax break for people in Grady County.
The school board has tentatively agreed to lower its millage rate to 12.8 mils. Officials weren't able hold a required public hearing on whether to increase it or keep it the same. They say they didn't get the tax figures in time to meet the two-week notification mandate.
Fortunately, officials say the school system will be able to meet its budget even with the decrease. It's a one-tenth drop from what it was last year.
